A recent client of ours was stunned to find that a swarm of honey bees had made their home in her Vaillant boiler. Unsure what to do and how to proceed, she called us to find out what could be done.
The bees had found the nice warm, dark space an ideal spot for their new hive. The problem is that often the bees get underway with their work and when this happens, boilers can find themselves covered in sticky honey, becoming very much unusable. It can become a very expensive – as well as rather unsettling – situation.
Luckily for our client, she had spotted the big group of intruders before this happened.
Gloucestershire Beekeepers Association
Our guy Jeremy, from Arrest The Pest, went to inspect the boiler and knew immediately what his plan of action needed to be. He got in touch with the Gloucestershire Beekeepers Association who met him on site to help with the removal and rehoming of this swarm of bees.
The Gloucestershire Beekeepers Association brought along all their kit, protective clothing and a specialised vacuum, which was to be used to vacuum up the swarm of bees. One of the main aims for us with all our work, is to remove pests or intruders in a humane and safe way and it was exactly the same for these honey bees.
The team then set to work vacuuming the swarm of bees until they had all been safely stored away. Once removed from our client’s boiler, they were safely rehomed altogether, in a safer location for a honey bee hive.
A Great Result
And for more good news, our client’s boiler was thankfully unharmed! It was in as good condition as it had been before the bees took over.
Thank you to the Gloucestershire Beekeepers Association and to our clients who trust us time and again to get a job done as quickly, and thoroughly as possible.
